Endotelin-1 stimulerar human adipocyt-lipolys genom

Our previous work showed the presence of endothelin-1 (ET-1) receptors, ET A and ET B, in human vascular endothelial cells (hVECs). In this study, we wanted to verify whether ET-1 plays a role in the survival of hVECs via the activation of its receptors ET A and (or) ET B (ET A R and ET B R, respectively). Endothelin receptors, consisting of two subtypes, ETA and ETB, are expressed in various tissues and widely regulate cardiovascular systems. The two receptors show distinct biological characteristics and are involved in different downstream pathways.

The importance of its proinflammatory and co-mitogenic properties has become increasingly evident, the endothelin system also having been shown to mimic the signal features of asthma, COPD and other pulmonary diseases.

Background and Purpose-Elevated levels of endothelin 1 (ET 1) have been reported in cerebral ischemia A role for ET may prove more important if the vascular receptors were changed We addressed whether there is any change in ET receptor expression in cerebral ischemia Methods-The right middle cerebral artery (MCA) was occluded in male Wistar rats for 2 hours with the intraluminal filament

In vitro studies show a discrete participation of ETB Endothelin receptor type B, also known as ETB is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EDNRB gene. Endothelin-3 – produced in the lungs, gut, and brain. To produce physical effects, endothelins bind to two types of receptors : Endothelin receptor A (ETA or EDNRA) Endothelin receptor B (ETB or EDNRB) ET-1 reduces blood flow and constricts blood vessels in the kidneys through the activation of ETA receptors.
ET-1 acts via 2 receptors, ETA and ETB. The ET-1 receptor blockers bosentan and sitaxsentan have been shown to be beneficial in patients with PAH. Bosentan blocks both ETA and ETB receptors. The goal of this study was to characterize the role of Endothelin (ET) type B receptors (ETB) on vascular function in healthy and diseased conditions and demonstrate how it affects the pharmacological activity of ET receptor antagonists (ERAs).

Two endothelin receptors have been cloned, namely, the ETA receptor, which preferentially binds ET-1, and the ETB receptor, which equally binds ET-1 and ET-3 and preferentially sarafotoxin S6c. Abstract Background Primary open angle glaucoma is a heterogeneous group of optic neuropathies that results in optic nerve degeneration and a loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) ultimately causing blindness if allowed to progress. Elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP) is the most attributable risk factor for developing glaucoma and lowering of IOP is currently the only available therapy The endothelin (ET) receptor system is markedly involved in the regulation of renal function under both physiological and pathophysiological conditions. The present study determined the detailed ce Distribution of Endothelin Receptor Subtypes ETA and ETB in the Rat Kidney - Martina Wendel, Lilla Knels, Wolfgang Kummer, Thea Koch, 2006 In the isolated rabbit heart, however, ectopic arrhythmias did not occur in the presence of the endothelin agonists and/or coronary artery occlusion. It has previously been shown in the in vivo rat that both ET‐1 ( Sharif et al ., 1998 ) and S6c ( Crockett et al ., 2000 ) can reduce ischaemia‐induced arrhythmogenesis. (NC-IUPHAR), endothelin receptor classified under two types and named as ETA and ETB endothelin receptor [25]. In human vasculature, ETA receptors predominate on the smooth muscle cells, and a low density of ETB receptors (<15%) is also present on these cells. In vitro studies show a discrete participation of ETB The endothelins comprise three structurally similar 21-amino acid peptides.
As potent ETA and ETB receptors are available, the endothelin system may represent an additional target for corneal antiangiogenic therapy. PMID: 16160501 Endothelin (ET) receptors involved in ET-1-induced responses of the longitudinal muscle of the isolated guinea pig ileum were studied. ET-1 caused concentration-dependent contractions, while ET-3 and selective ETB-receptor agonists, IRL1620 and sarafotoxin 6c (S6c), showed little or no effect.
